On some vehicles included in this recall, the starter generator power connector may not have been manufactured to specifications, causing a loose connection between the starter generator's positive terminal and the 48V wiring harness's positive terminal, resulting in an abnormally high resistance. In extreme cases, this could cause the vehicle to stall while driving or cause engine compartment burns and fires, posing a safety hazard.
BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. and BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. will inspect the starter generators of vehicles within the recall scope free of charge and replace them if necessary; they will also inspect related cables and repair or replace them if necessary to eliminate safety hazards.

For vehicles covered by this recall, due to problems with the insulation fault monitoring mechanism, the vehicle's high-voltage system may be mistakenly shut down under certain operating conditions, causing the electric drive unit to lose power, increasing the risk of vehicle collision, and posing a safety hazard.
BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. and BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. will provide free software upgrades for vehicles within the recall scope to eliminate safety hazards.
