Lei Jun revealed that Xiaomi SU7 is still undergoing road testing after delivery. Are users really “guinea pigs”?

Although Xiaomi SU7 has been officially launched for nearly two months, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun still uses various methods to keep the car popular in public opinion.

Recently, Lei Jun, chairman of Xiaomi Group, conducted a three-hour live broadcast of driving the SU7, publicly testing the Xiaomi City NOA and Highway NOA systems for the first time, and received 39 million views. In addition to publishing his views on intelligent driving and Xiaomi's investment in this field, Lei Jun also announced to the outside world that the Xiaomi SU7 is still under testing.

"Let me tell you something I haven't told you before. The (SU7) fleet is still under testing. We hope to run this batch of cars for 150,000 or 200,000 kilometers, completing their entire life cycle to see if there are any problems. After all the tests are completed, they may run 11 million kilometers." Lei Jun said that no car manufacturer had ever invested in such a large-scale test before.

After Lei Jun disclosed the information that Xiaomi SU7 is still under testing, it once again aroused heated discussions among the public and practitioners.

Research and development personnel from several traditional car companies told reporters that the full life cycle test that Lei Jun mentioned should be the regional road test or national road test of traditional car companies. This type of test is different from bench or field test. The usage scenario and intensity are closer to the actual usage of users. Depending on the requirements of the company, the test mileage usually ranges from 150,000 to 200,000 kilometers.

"But this type of test will definitely be carried out before the official start of production (SOP), not after delivery." A test engineer from a joint venture car company told reporters that the durability tests of general products will be divided into whole vehicle durability, special durability, etc., and some tests will be carried out through bench tests, professional test tracks, etc. This type of test can be converted to be equivalent to a longer daily durability test mileage; in addition to the above tests, the whole vehicle will also be tested on real roads to be close to the actual usage of users; in addition, similar real road tests will be carried out when the vehicle model is modified, but this test is also carried out before SOP.

Therefore, some people believe that Xiaomi SU7 was delivered before the test was completed, which is suspected of treating users as guinea pigs. However, some people also said that road testing is still continuing after the launch, and the car is still making progress.

Since its official launch on March 28, Xiaomi SU7 has become one of the hottest products in the market this year. On May 15, Xiaomi said that Xiaomi SU7 had delivered 10,000 units in 43 days, and Xiaomi Auto will continue to increase production capacity to ensure the delivery target of 100,000 units this year.

However, since its delivery, Xiaomi SU7 has had several suspected quality problems, including brake failure, loss of power, and fender detachment.

A car company road test staff member who requested to remain anonymous believed that the fender detachment of the Xiaomi SU7 was a "low-level" problem, which should have been discovered and solved during the road test.
