The Tianhe Branch of the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau issued a police report on the afternoon of December 10:
Recently, the Tianhe District Police in Guangzhou received a report that a fake and vulgar video featuring a car brand's booth was circulating online. The police quickly launched an investigation. The investigation revealed that Li (male, 36 years old) used AI technology to generate the fake video to show off his skills and then posted it on social media, causing a negative social impact. Currently, the police have imposed an administrative detention of 10 days on Li in accordance with the law.
Police remind the public that the internet is not above the law. The police will strictly investigate and punish illegal and criminal acts such as deliberately fabricating and spreading online rumors. We urge all netizens not to believe or spread rumors and to work together to maintain a clean and healthy online environment.
The Paper previously reported that an indecent video of a car model circulated online: next to a XPeng P7 car, a woman in a green dress made indecent gestures. The video attracted attention, with many netizens considering it "vulgar."
In a response released on November 28, XPeng Motors' legal department stated that the company has noticed some accounts maliciously disseminating fake, vulgar, and pornographic videos generated using AI technology and set against the backdrop of XPeng Motors' Guangzhou Auto Show booth on social media and private channels. These videos are being used to generate negative buzz and defame the XPeng Motors brand and products. Such behavior not only seriously violates public order and good morals and pollutes the online environment, but also infringes upon XPeng Motors' legitimate rights and interests, crossing legal boundaries.
In its response, XPeng Motors stated that it did not invite any models or performers to the auto show and has consistently and firmly resisted and opposed any promotional activities involving inappropriate content. Currently, the company has secured all relevant evidence and formally reported the incident to the police, who have launched an investigation.
