Li Fenggang, a former senior executive at FAW-Audi, left the FAW system after 22 years of service and officially took office as the general manager of Beijing Hyundai today.
According to China Economic Net, Li Fenggang, former Party Secretary and General Manager of FAW Fuhua Ecological Co., Ltd. and Executive Vice President of FAW-Audi Sales Co., Ltd., has joined Hyundai China and will serve as General Manager of Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd., representing the Korean side. This appointment will officially take effect on November 10, 2025.
This marks the first time since its establishment in 2002 that a Chinese representative has been appointed as the general manager of Beijing Hyundai, representing the South Korean side. Beijing Hyundai is a 50:50 joint venture between Beijing Automotive Investment Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of BAIC Group, and Hyundai Motor of South Korea. The organizational structure stipulates that the general manager is appointed by the South Korean side, while the executive vice president is appointed by BAIC.

Li Fenggang
Public information shows that Li Fenggang joined FAW-Volkswagen in 2003 after graduating from Tsinghua University (majoring in Mechanical Design and Automation), and served in the FAW system for 22 years.
In October 2023, Li Fenggang succeeded Sun Huibin as Executive Vice President of FAW Audi. He was the youngest senior management cadre of FAW Group when he took office. During his tenure, he was active on social media accounts as "i-People Marketing Officer".
In September 2025, Li Fenggang, who had served as the executive vice president of FAW Audi for less than two years, was suddenly transferred to FAW Fuhua Ecological Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of FAW Group, as the party secretary and general manager.
Two months after this job change, Li Fenggang chose to leave FAW and embark on a new journey.
According to a report by China Economic Net, the news of Li Fenggang's transfer from Executive Vice President of FAW-Audi Sales Co., Ltd. on September 1, 2025, immediately attracted fierce competition. It is understood that in addition to Hyundai China, several other automakers extended offers to Li Fenggang. Furthermore, the time from Li Fenggang submitting his resignation to Hyundai China's report was only two months, a remarkably swift process among senior executives of FAW Group.
Beijing Hyundai has declined from a company with sales exceeding one million units to one with total sales of only 154,000 vehicles in 2024. Observers believe that Beijing Hyundai has long sought to return to the mainstream automaker stage, and with the launch of its first pure electric SUV, the Yiou, the timing is crucial. Currently, it urgently needs a leading local talent to help it revitalize its business.
