The 8th China International Import Expo opened as scheduled on November 5.
As an important commodity in the global import and export market, the automobile exhibition area in Hall 2.1 has always been one of the most popular and attention-grabbing exhibition areas in each CIIE.
This year, the exhibition hall was renamed the Automotive and Smart Mobility Zone, bringing together 12 vehicle groups, 10 of which are "perfect participants" who have exhibited for eight consecutive years, demonstrating their high level of enthusiasm.
For the Volkswagen Group, which has been present at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) for eight consecutive years, it is certainly an ideal "showcase." However, its significance has never been just about product display, but rather a concentrated demonstration of its firm commitment to the Chinese market and its continuous efforts to promote transformation and development.
This year, eight models from Volkswagen Group's four major brands were showcased at the China International Import Expo, covering everything from mass-produced electric vehicles to high-end intelligent connected vehicles, reflecting the group's new image.

Among them, the three concept cars from the Volkswagen brand—ID.AURA, ID.ERA, and ID.EVO—each showcase differentiated designs through different joint ventures, demonstrating the maturity of their "China-exclusive" product strategy. Models such as the all-new Audi E5 Sportback and A6L e-tron demonstrate the Volkswagen Group's ability to bring cutting-edge products to Chinese consumers at "China speed."
Porsche, with its blend of new and old 911 models, showcased the brand's philosophy of balancing heritage and innovation. At the China International Import Expo, the new 911 Turbo S made its Asian debut, featuring the innovative T-Hybrid system. It sets a new performance benchmark with 523 kW of power and 800 Nm of torque, and conquered the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 7 minutes and 3.92 seconds.

Echoing this is the 911 S Targa, a classic model celebrating its 60th anniversary. Its iconic roll cage design and "safety convertible" concept serve as a living embodiment of Porsche's design philosophy. Porsche China President, Pan Lizhi, stated, "The 911 is both a carrier of the brand's spirit and a witness to technological iteration." The Porsche China R&D Center, which opened that day in Shanghai's Hongqiao Business District, further highlights its strategic intention to "upgrade localized innovation from market adaptation to technology export."
In fact, this year, Volkswagen Group made the strongest statement on automotive technology at the China International Import Expo. The core of its participation has gone beyond product showcases and focused on breakthroughs in "technological autonomy".

At the heart of the Volkswagen Group booth is an experiential zone called "Digital Magic Cube." This zone showcases Volkswagen's core cutting-edge technologies that it will launch in the Chinese market in 2026, allowing visitors to experience firsthand the unique charm of future Volkswagen intelligent vehicles.
Facing the fiercely competitive and rapidly developing Chinese intelligent connected vehicle market, the Volkswagen Group is fully prepared – the CMP (Compact Main Platform), the CEA (China Electronic Architecture), and the next-generation Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) developed locally by Coretronic will form the three major technological pillars for Volkswagen to win in the future.
On the same day, Volkswagen Group (China) announced that it will develop its first self-designed and self-developed System-on-Chips (SoC) for the Chinese market. Developed locally by CARIZON, a joint venture between CARIAD and Horizon Robotics, the SoC will boast a single-chip computing power of 500 to 700 TOPS. It will be tailored to China's complex roads and diverse driving scenarios, becoming the first truly "Volkswagen chip" in history, with mass production and delivery expected within the next 3 to 5 years.
Jürgen Obrmuch, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Group, who personally attended the CIIE, said: "By designing and developing system-on-a-chip independently in China, the Group is mastering key technologies for future intelligent mobility, which will further consolidate the Group's long-term innovation capabilities and promote China as an important source of global innovation for the Volkswagen Group."
It is understood that in the process of the automotive industry's transformation towards electric, intelligent, and connected mobility, Volkswagen Group aims to become a "global leader in automotive technology".
