When we talk about pure electric SUVs in the 100,000 yuan price range, we rarely use the word "balanced" to describe them.
After all, under such price constraints, most products have to make some trade-offs, perhaps in terms of space, design, and quality, or perhaps in terms of handling, features, and intelligent driving capabilities. However, after recently test driving the new Changan Qiyuan Q05, we found that it is one of the few products in this price range that truly deserves the word "balanced".

As a small SUV, the Changan Qiyuan Q05 boasts a wheelbase of 2735mm, comparable to many compact SUVs. Combined with its dimensions of 4435/1855/1600mm (length/width/height), the vehicle offers class-leading front and second-row space, as well as ample trunk space. The trunk itself offers a base capacity of 540L, which expands to 1380L when the seats are folded down, ensuring ample space.

The all-new Q05 adopts Changan Qiyuan's family design style, and its connection to other Changan Qiyuan models is evident in the design of the continuous light strip and split headlights. The continuous light strip on the front face has a slightly upward angle, resembling a section of an Angry Bird's upturned eyebrow, and the official website has also made a connection with "Angry Birds." It's clear that while retaining the family design, the new car still offers some personalized style.

In terms of interior design, the new Q05 is relatively conventional, retaining the symmetrical layout and central large screen design. However, the quality has been noticeably improved. Firstly, the seat materials are well-chosen, offering a soft touch and good support. Both the driver and passenger seats feature heating, ventilation, and an 8-point massage function. The passenger seat even includes a leg rest with a maximum elevation of 70°, making it one of the few models in its class to offer such a "queen seat" for the passenger. Secondly, the infotainment system uses TSMC's 4nm automotive-grade chip (MT8676), providing excellent smoothness and supporting CarPlay, HiCar, CarLink, and Honor Connect, giving users considerable freedom of choice.

In terms of power, the all-new Q05 is equipped with a 120kW front-mounted motor across the entire range, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 7 seconds. It also features five driving modes, which can be infinitely adjusted while driving. Even energy recovery, braking mode, and steering assist mode can be manually controlled from 1% to 100%. During the test drive, the power delivery was smooth in comfort mode, while overtaking on highways was relatively easy in sport mode. Furthermore, the official statement indicates that the retail version will include practical features such as one-button anti-motion sickness.
Energy efficiency is a core advantage of the new Changan Qiyuan Q05. Thanks to the standard CATL battery cells and a drag coefficient of 0.265Cd, the vehicle's energy consumption is quite good. The new car offers two range versions: 405km and 506km (CLTC). The Golden Bell 3C Fast Charging 2.0 battery provides a 15-minute rapid charging experience (30% to 80%). In addition, it also supports 3.3kW external power discharge, providing ample convenience for outdoor camping and outings.

The chassis was the biggest surprise of this test drive. Although the suspension structure is just a conventional front MacPherson strut and rear torsion beam, the addition of class-exclusive FSD variable damping shock absorbers gives the entire suspension excellent vibration damping performance. In particular, it handles large road impacts with ease and without harshness, giving a sense of sophistication. Only when encountering continuous, finely broken road surfaces can the impact be more noticeable.
Another noteworthy aspect is the driver assistance system. The new Q05 is equipped with a Horizon Journey 6M chip (128 TOPS computing power) and LiDAR, enabling functions such as automatic overtaking, obstacle avoidance, and on/off ramp navigation. The "front parking" feature, a first in its class, solves the parking pain point for vehicles with front-mounted charging ports.

As a new car built on the TianShu architecture pure electric platform, the Changan Qiyuan Q05 has many highlights, whether it is its solid range, excellent handling, or its performance in terms of space, chassis, and intelligent driving. It can be said to be a rare "balanced" product in the 100,000 yuan pure electric SUV market. The new car will be officially launched in late November.
