On October 28th, the smart brand announced the launch of its first plug-in hybrid SUV—the #5 EHD Super Hybrid—with a limited-time price starting at 169,900 yuan. Nationwide deliveries are scheduled to begin in mid-November. This launch establishes a dual-technology approach for the smart brand, encompassing both pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, and allows it to enter the plug-in hybrid market with high cost-performance, creating a differentiated competitive advantage in the 200,000 yuan-level new energy SUV segment.
It is understood that the new car is positioned as a "new luxury electric hybrid large five-seater SUV", and its main selling point is "the only choice of luxury plug-in hybrid under 200,000 yuan". Mercedes-Benz design and Geely's hybrid technology are the core selling points. At the same time, it offers purchase benefits of up to 70,000 yuan.

Among them, the smart #5 EHD Super Hybrid is built on Geely's latest generation Thor Hybrid 2.0 technology, with a combined CLTC range of 1615 kilometers and a fuel consumption of 4.4L/100km when the battery is depleted. Its engine thermal efficiency reaches 47.26%, which is the highest level in the current mass production industry. Combined with three-speed DHT seamless shifting technology, it emphasizes five major advantages: stability, smoothness, quietness, fuel efficiency, and long range.
Meanwhile, the new vehicle continues Mercedes-Benz's global design language, offering five exterior colors and two interior styles. The interior features an immersive AMD 5-screen intelligent cockpit and zero-gravity seats, complemented by a 20-speaker Sennheiser sound system and 256-color ambient lighting. Emphasizing a "compact exterior, spacious interior" space concept, it boasts an 85% usable floor area ratio and a trunk volume that can be flexibly adjusted between 625L and 1525L.

At the launch event, actor Li Naiwen, as the first car owner, shared his criteria for choosing the vehicle, emphasizing the new car's ability to cover all aspects of travel. Zhang Mingxia, CMO of smart's global company, acted as a "translator of voices," revealing that the new car responds to the dual needs of young users for freedom and families for responsibility and romance.
At the launch event, Tong Xiangbei, CEO of smart's global company, emphasized that Mercedes-Benz and Geely have "no upper limit" on their R&D investment, and that all core components are equipped with top-of-the-line configurations in the industry. "When buying a luxury hybrid SUV, choose #5 EHD Super Hybrid."
