The news that "JD.com's new car is about to be released" has attracted widespread attention from online public opinion.
On October 15, a reporter from The Paper exclusively learned from an insider that this new car, jointly launched by JD Auto, CATL's Times Electronics Service, and GAC Group, is expected to be priced between 100,000 and 120,000 yuan based on the disclosed positioning and vehicle configuration.
According to the plan, the car will be officially released during JD.com's Double Eleven period and will be sold exclusively by JD.com. In terms of the model, it is expected to adopt the "chocolate battery swap" model and is expected to be a GAC Aion battery swap model.
The so-called "Chocolate Battery Swap" is a new energy vehicle operation service solution launched by CATL, named for its modular battery that resembles chocolate. Drivers can drive their new energy vehicles into a "Chocolate Battery Swap" station without having to exit the vehicle. Simply by giving a command on their phone, the station automatically swaps the battery underneath the vehicle, a process that takes approximately 100 seconds.
Previously, at JD.com's Double Eleven press conference, JD.com officially announced a major move in the automotive sector: it will join forces with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CATL, and GAC Group to jointly launch a new car, integrating JD.com's advantageous resources in user insights, car buying and maintenance, as well as GAC's vehicle manufacturing capabilities and CATL's battery technology and battery swap ecosystem, to achieve breakthroughs in safety, batteries and energy replenishment, vehicle supporting services, and prices, creating a new one-stop complete model.
On the same day, JD.com responded to a reporter from The Paper, stating that it primarily provides consumer insights and exclusive sales, and is not directly involved in manufacturing. Regarding vehicle models and highlights, the company will focus on performance and safety, stylish design, battery life, and affordable pricing, striving to achieve the optimal balance and launch a "national car" that is affordable and meets over 90% of people's daily commuting needs.
Regarding the news that JD.com is collaborating with GAC and CATL to launch a car, GAC's investor relations department responded to the media, stating that the new car will use CATL's Chocolate battery swap technology and will be sold on JD.com, but that the specific model is not currently available. "JD.com is not currently involved in R&D, and the parties have no plans to establish a joint venture. JD.com will primarily be responsible for sales and after-sales service."
In terms of layout in the automotive field, JD.com has quietly started to make its moves: online channels have covered one-stop automobile consumption of "buying, matching, maintenance, using and replacing", and can provide automobile supplies, accessories and other products. Offline, there are nearly 3,000 JD.com car maintenance stores and more than 40,000 cooperative stores, as well as JD.com car modification stores, self-operated film factories, etc.
Judging from online feedback, this new car sold by JD.com has attracted attention, and more than 140,000 people have participated in the interaction on the interactive interface of JD.com's homepage.
