The dispute between JD.com and Tuhu over "tiger-shocking prices" has temporarily come to an end.
On August 4, JD Auto Care released a statement on its official account, JD Auto, stating that in response to the unfair competition dispute case filed by Shanghai Lantu Information Technology Co., Ltd. (the parent company of Tuhu Auto Care) against Beijing Qiguangxing Information Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing JD Century Trading Co., Ltd., and Beijing JD Century Information Technology Co., Ltd., the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court determined that the three defendants' related actions in the "Zhenhu Price" promotional activities constituted unfair competition. This statement is hereby made to eliminate the impact.
On July 21, 2025, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court issued a final judgment in the "Tiger Shock Price" case, ruling in favor of Tuhu Auto and dismissing JD Auto's appeal. The judgment is now effective. The court found that JD Auto engaged in commercial defamation and false advertising, which not only constituted unfair competition but also misled consumers in specific scenarios.
The unfair competition dispute between Tuhu Auto and JD Auto began in September 2023, when JD Auto used the slogan "Shocking Tiger Prices" as its core marketing campaign. In January 2024, Tuhu Auto formally sued JD Auto for unfair competition, and the litigation lasted nearly two years.
The Shanghai Intellectual Property Court's second-instance judgment stated that JD Auto's "Tiger Shock Price" low-price marketing campaign, with its slogan claiming "prices 5% lower than competitors," could easily mislead consumers in certain scenarios and constituted false advertising. The "Tiger Shock Price" series of marketing activities themselves constituted commercial defamation, both of which constituted unfair competition. The court ordered JD Auto to immediately cease its unfair competition against Tuhu Auto.
At the same time, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court also ordered JD Auto to compensate Tuhu Auto for economic losses of 5 million yuan, and required JD Auto to publish a statement on the "JD Auto" WeChat public account, video account, Weibo, JD Auto official flagship store Douyin account and JD Auto APP for 10 consecutive days within ten days from the date of the judgment to eliminate the infringement impact on Tuhu Auto.
A representative from Tuhu Auto Care said, "We have received compensation from the other party, but they have not yet issued a statement to eliminate the infringement effects as required by the judgment."
On the same day, a person in charge of JD Auto Maintenance responded, "It is a pity that our competitors think that the 'Tiger Price' has affected them, but 'Tiger Price' is just a name." He said that JD Auto Maintenance will launch a 5 billion car maintenance subsidy campaign and launch a 365 worry-free shopping service.
