The State Council Executive Meeting held on the 16th clearly stated that we must focus on promoting the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry, adhere to the combination of long-term and short-term measures and comprehensive measures to effectively regulate the competitive order of the new energy vehicle industry in response to various irrational competition phenomena that have emerged in this industry.

The latest data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that in the first half of 2025, my country's production and sales of new energy vehicles will be 6.968 million and 6.937 million respectively, up 41.4% and 40.3% year-on-year respectively. The sales of new energy vehicles will reach 44.3% of the total sales of new vehicles.
"The new energy vehicle industry has continued its rapid growth and has become the dominant force in my country's automobile market. But while we see the achievements, some problems in the automobile industry cannot be ignored." Fu Bingfeng, executive vice president and secretary general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that we must comprehensively manage various irrational competition phenomena, resolutely maintain a fair and orderly market environment, and promote the healthy and sustainable development of the industry.
The meeting proposed the need to strengthen cost investigations and price monitoring, intensify supervision and inspection of product production consistency, and urge key automobile companies to fulfill their payment period commitments.
Wang Tie, director of the China Automotive Strategy and Policy Research Center of CATARC, said that cost investigation and price monitoring are necessary means to expose unreasonable pricing behavior of enterprises and timely discover and warn of price fluctuations. "Strengthening the supervision and inspection of product production consistency can effectively prevent enterprises from "shrinking" in product configuration, safety, environmental protection performance, etc., thereby maintaining the bottom line of product quality and safety and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of consumers."
Wang Tie told reporters that ensuring that key automakers implement their commitment to "paying suppliers within 60 days" is an important part of ensuring the stability of the capital chain of small and medium-sized enterprises and improving the industrial ecology. "We must strive to guide the industry to establish a long-term, mutually trusting relationship between suppliers and suppliers, and promote the industry from a 'zero-sum game' to a 'symbiosis and win-win' situation."
The meeting proposed that efforts should be made to improve long-term mechanisms for standardized competition, strengthen industry self-discipline, better play the role of standards in leading industrial upgrading, and guide enterprises to enhance their competitiveness through technological innovation and quality improvement.
Fu Bingfeng said that real competitive advantage ultimately depends on value creation, which requires automobile companies to make efforts in technological innovation, product quality, user experience, brand culture, etc. "Next, we will further improve the long-term working mechanism, gather positive energy in the industry, and jointly create a clean, healthy and harmonious industrial ecology."
Experts said that my country's new energy vehicle industry has achieved remarkable results, which are hard-won and need to be cherished.
"New energy vehicles cannot just be the 'quantity champion', but also the 'quality benchmark'. Only by shifting from price competition to value-driven can Chinese cars truly win the future," said Fu Bingfeng. (End)
