On June 12, GAC Toyota systematically disclosed its interim achievements and strategic planning in the field of intelligent electrification at the Technology Day event, and announced its latest "circle of friends" for the first time. Facing the wave of intelligent electrification transformation in the Chinese auto market, this joint venture automaker is accelerating its progress towards the goal of becoming a "new leader in intelligent electrification" through technology platform iteration, local R&D system upgrades, and cross-border ecological integration.
At the event, GAC Toyota announced that it will build a dual new energy exclusive platform, of which the small and medium-sized car platform has been first applied to the Bozhi 3X model, achieving product breakthroughs in A-class positioning, B-class space, and C-class comfort; the medium and large car platform plans to launch the first model in 2026, covering multiple technical routes such as pure electric, plug-in hybrid, and extended range. It is worth noting that the next generation of Highlander and Senna will be equipped with an extended-range electric system for the first time, marking that GAC Toyota has formed a full matrix layout of "intelligent electric hybrid dual engine + plug-in hybrid + extended range" in the hybrid field.
At the underlying architecture level, GAC Toyota has launched a new electronic and electrical architecture and AI intelligent digital chassis. With a high-performance central computing unit as its core, this architecture supports the continuous evolution of high-level intelligent driving and complex cockpit functions; the chassis system reconstructs the balance between vehicle control and comfort through millisecond-level road condition prediction and dynamic adjustment of electromagnetic shock absorbers. At the same time, the sixth-generation intelligent electric hybrid dual-engine technology has entered the research and development stage, and the current TSS 3.0 Intelligent Driving Safety System will be upgraded to version 4.0, with significantly improved sensor computing power and functional scenario coverage.
The deepening of the localized R&D system has become the key to transformation. GAC Toyota has fully implemented the "China Chief Engineer System", giving the Chinese R&D team full control over the entire process from product planning to verification and evaluation. The Bozhi 3X, built based on this system, received nearly 30,000 orders within three months of its launch, setting a record for the delivery speed of joint venture pure electric vehicles; the second model, Bozhi 7, has attracted industry attention before it was launched due to its D-class car size, laser radar intelligent driving and Hongmeng cockpit configuration. In the future, the development of global model upgrades, including Highlander and Senna, will be coordinated by the Chinese R&D team.
In terms of building an intelligent ecosystem, GAC Toyota has taken the lead in developing AI technology in the joint venture field: the large flywheel model developed in cooperation with Momenta will be installed on the Bozhi 3X for the first time, realizing intelligent driving decisions based on reinforcement learning; Huawei DriveONE motor and Star Flash digital key technology empower Bozhi 7, bringing the same electric driving experience as the M9. In addition, GAC Toyota and Xiaomi have reached an ecological interconnection cooperation, realizing seamless connection between vehicle-mounted devices and smart homes through a unified interface. Users can view the status of rear passengers in real time through the central control screen and freely expand the vehicle accessories ecosystem.
The intelligent upgrade of manufacturing and service links is promoted simultaneously. GAC Toyota has introduced an AI symptom management system, integrating Toyota's global quality standards with local data accumulation to achieve predictive quality control in the production process; the service end uses AI technology to optimize on-time delivery rate, intelligent network experience and remote support efficiency, and build a personalized user operation system.
Since the release of the "Fusion 2030" strategy in 2023, GAC Toyota has taken "electric hybrid power, oil-electric intelligence" as its phased goal, and gradually built a complete system covering new energy platforms, intelligent technologies, local R&D and ecological cooperation. According to the plan, 2024-2026 will be its technical breakthrough period, and a comprehensive market counterattack will be launched in 2027. This joint venture automaker is promoting the deep integration of global standards and Chinese innovation with the core concept of "Chinese wisdom drive", and strives to reshape the value benchmark of joint venture brands in the era of intelligent electricity.
